Engine 127 is a 1969 Crown Firecoach, serial number F-1600.  The engine served the City of San Mateo, CA for 33 years prior to being sold to a private collector.

In the beginning, Engine 127 was purchased as part of a bulk purchase after voters approved a $300,000 bond measure.  Five identical Crown Pumpers were purchased along with two 100 foot Crown rear-mount aerial trucks.  The 5 engines and 2 trucks, with serial numbers sequentially F-1600 through F-1606, were all delivered as open cab models.  Later on, they were all retrofitted with the current cab roof.  F-1600 was the last Crown Firecoach to serve San Mateo when it was sold in 2002.

In November, 2003, Robert Cook, a current firefighter, and his wife Aleta, located F-1600 for sale by the collector in Paso Robles, CA.  The idea for FIRE TRUCK EVENTS was hatched, and the engine was brought back to San Mateo in February 2004.

Some of the engine's features include:
Cummins NTF 365 diesel engine
Allison Automatic Transmission
Waterous 1500 gallon per minute pump

The engine's first role with the SMFD was at Fire Station #23
